Although the showhas had queer couples on international seasons, Married at First Sight has still been missing LGBTQ+ participants. Although Married at First Sight has cast LGBTQ+ people, the reality show always pairs them in a straight marriage.

However, the US version has only explored heterosexual pairings.

Fans were left delighted on viewing the episode, with one fan saying of the newlyweds: 'I'm emotionally connected to Matt and Daniel on Married at first sight uk already' [sic]

Married at First Sight should introduce LGBTQ+ couples to tell new stories and make great television.

Married at First Sight has been on Lifetime for over a decade. Meeting, connecting, marrying, honeymooning, moving in together and all the stags of the relationship will be condensed. Like really strong and confident.'

Over with the girls, Dan, who works in sales and is from Northern Ireland, said of his experience: 'It's amazing to be one half of the first gay couple [on the show].

'Gay marriage has only been legalised very recently in Northern Ireland which is absolutely shocking.

The Ultimatum specifically had a season with exclusively LGBTQ+ couples called The Ultimatum: Queer Love, which turned out to be the most dramatic and most toxic season of the show ever.

Elsewhere on social media, fans of the show were pleased to see that the new series had adopted the Aussie format, with one writing: 'Love how Married at First Sight UK have changed their formatting to the Australian version.
