What is the best gay beach in Oahu?
Hands down, Kaimana Beach in Waikiki takes the crown. While it’s not a nude beach, it’s got a laid-back, gay-friendly vibe.
This area is known to be a bit “cruzie,” and the unofficial nude beach begins at the end of Beach Road (just off Diamond Head Road) and goes for about six hundred feet along the water’s edge (nudity is illegal, though). The name originates from Hawaiian Queen Liliuokalani who owned property here and is not a comment on its bathers.
Just a quick tip—nudity is strictly off-limits here, and federal officials do enforce it. After all, chances are if you are staying on Oahu you too will book a room in Waikiki or Honolulu yourself. Central Oahu does however have one of the island’s largest attractions Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S.
Just a heads up—bring plenty of sunscreen because it can get blazing hot out there, and remember, there are no facilities. You’ll have to navigate a steep trail to reach the shoreline, but the stunning views and black sand beach make the trek totally worth it. Those colossal tubes you see in surf magazines? Slicing through the center is the flat Leilehua Plateau.
With luxury resorts nearby, it’s a favorite for a beach day. While it’s not exactly a spot for cruising, it’s perfect for socializing or just catching some rays.
